How Do Cats Defy Laws of Physics?

Manja Vitolic on Unsplash

Cats fall in a very interesting way that defies the laws of physics. They’re able to turn in the air without pushing against anything. Turns out their spines are flexible and allow cats to twist in two different directions at the same time, like a pepper mill. Their heads turn towards the ground by twisting their rear ends in the opposite direction, and then they twist the opposite direction to get their front and back paws to face the same downward direction. Then apparently cats relax enough to avoid much damage from falling. They land on their feet.
