Antikythera Mechanism Rebuilt with Legos

Nature Video

The Open Culture website recently published an article about the Antikythera Mechanism, a Greek analog computer from 2000 years ago, that was recreated with Lego Technic pieces in 2010. The Nature Video shows not only the gears but also how the gears interacted to do math which, in turn, predicted celestial events, solar and lunar eclipses, and planetary movements.

While the Lego recreation apparently used twice as many gears as the original, the math described in the video is amazing. Especially since people figured out the calculations almost 2000 years ago.
